Eiichiro Oda debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1997 as a comic creator and artist with ONE PIECE. The story begins with Etta's childhood, through her young adulthood, continuing to where she meets Sundance, and later accompanies them lives with them throughout much of their time in the US. My only problem is that as a woman of color, I felt that her characterization of Shad, Gus, and their family was less than flattering and straight out of the 50's. She's about as warm as the creatures in her fish tank. I took a flyer on the first book in the series because I'm a big Disney Parks fan, even though I haven't been to Disneyland yet (2016 hopefully). As such, I found it tough going at times; Stein's repetitious style akin to finger nails on a chalk board. Lots of diagrams of HD, MIX and other big rig setups, but who cares. He told me in his grown up 8 year voice " mom; Shawn Stout is an excellent writer".
